DEVER TRUCK ACCIDENT

Car accidents can cause serious pain, suffering and financial strain for survivors, but hit-and-run injuries often can carry with them an extra level of stress. Not knowing who or why you were seriously injured in a car accident can make recovery even more complicated because the driver of the other car may never be found and your insurance or you alone would have to cover the costs.
A letter was written to the Stapleton, Denver community this week by a mother who was released from the hospital after being involved in a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident where the driver of the car was never found. This mother's thanks was all the more moving because it was not her life lost in the accident, but the life of her newborn child.
The woman was pregnant at the time of the car accident. On December 9, 2010, she was crossing the street in her neighborhood when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver raced off, as she lay there worrying about her baby boy. The two were transported to the Denver Health Medical Center where the boy was delivered but died shortly after.
The woman's letter thanked her community for the support that she was given during her time of healing. "It is amazing to go through a tragedy like we have and come out feeling loved, blessed and even lucky," she wrote. While she could seek assistance for reimbursement of her medical expenses, she was thankful for the blood that was donated to help save her life. She told the community that she would forever mourn the loss of her son, but despite the tragedy, she thanked the medical staff for her life.
